With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Emily Rice Chiswell of Gaithersburg, Maryland, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 18, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis W. Rice and Carroll Patterson Rice. She is survived by: her children, Robert Chiswell (Lynne), Carroll Sherman (Frank) and Steven Chiswell (Michele); her grandchildren, Kelly Hass (Michael), Jenifer McGlone (Ryan), Ashley Allen (Brian), Holly Chiswell (Brett Bell), Mark Sherman, Chase Chiswell and Cara Chiswell; and her great grandchildren, Ryan McGlone, Jr., Hannah Hass, Julia Hass, Chloe McGlone, Archie Allen, Emma Hass, Margot Hass, Henry Allen and Dorothy Allen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church (119 N Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Monocacy Cemetery (19801 W Hunter Rd, Beallsville, MD 20839).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.
