He was predeceased by: his parents, Joyleen Smith and Douglas Smith; his brothers, Douglas and Scott Smith; his sister-in-law Susie Smith; and his sister Sherrie Lynn Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Smith; his children, Blake Smith, Lauren Smith-Jaeschke (Cole), Meaghan Smith and Allison Smith; his stepchildren, Kimberly Showman (Zack), Michael Gotzens and Erin Gotzens; and his siblings, Su Smith, Wayne Smith (Connie Smith), Allan Smith (Julie Smith) and Jim Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the DeVol Funeral Home (10 E Deer Park Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). A committal service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the All Souls Cemetery (11401 Brink Rd, Germantown, MD 20876). A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Gentleman Jim's (18257 Flower Hill Way, Gaithersburg, MD 20879).
