He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Melley of County Tyrone, Ireland. and Mary Kelly Melley of County Tyrone, Ireland.. He is survived by: his wife Eileen Mary Melley; his son Peter J. Melley (Alison Heinhold Melley); and his grandchildren, Sara, Liam, Aidan, Kevin and Patrick.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DeVol Funeral Home (10 E Deer Park Dr, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish (11701 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878). A committal service will be held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church (11701 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20878).
