James W. Preston Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James W. Preston of Gambrills, Maryland, who passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene George Preston Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Fissel; and his brothers, Lewis and Eugene. He is survived by: his wife Martha Walter Preston; his sons, James and Martin; his daughter-in-law Melissa; and his granddaughters, Amanda and Julia.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hardesty Funeral Home - Gambrills (851 Annapolis Rd, Gambrills, MD 21054). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Baldwin Memorial (921 Generals Hwy, Millersville, MD 21108).
Jim was active in Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Boy Scouts of America, the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association, and Severn Cross Roads Foundation, serving in many leadership roles. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church and the American Kidney Fund.
