As Irona departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Irona may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Irona leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Purnell and Gladys Collick Purnell. She is survived by: her children, Zandra Pusey (Norris), Shelly Thomas, Shanay Purnell-Washington (Robert), Ronnette Rock (Bryan) and Darrell Purnell; and her sister Sandra Bowen. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Coolspring United Methodist Church (MD-12, Girdletree, MD 21829). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 at the Coolspring United Methodist Church Cemetery (MD-12, Girdletree, MD 21829).
