He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Mae Perry (Gilgan) and Robert Nicholson Perry; his wife Shirley Jean (Page); his sister Carol Lynne Perry; and his daughter Pamela Jean Gates (Perry).

He is survived by: his daughter Lynne Marie Whittington (Arthur Hurst Whittington III); and his grandchildren, Jeremy Gates, Michelle Newland, Sherry Edwards and Cameron Whittington. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
