She was predeceased by: her parents, Carlos DeFreitas and Julia Ifill; her grandmother Ya-Ya; her husband Rodwell W. Tong; and her children, Rodwell A. Tong and Desrie Fleming.
She is survived by: her cousins, Cicely and Joyce DeSouza; her children, Dennis (Laverne), Donna, David, Rosanna, Camille, Dalton (Linda), Gem (Garfield), Petal and Jerome; her grandchildren, Blossom, Abenaa, Arlene, Denise, Kwesi, Donnis, Deoesi, Kevin, Dior, Stacy, Shondell, Morisa, David, Brittany, Jason, Imani, Davon, Sean, Casey, Kira, Anisa, Rodwell A. Jr., Faith, Reuel, Ronel, Rizpah, Sophia, Nicole, Geahna, Kareem, Kiara, Nevaeh and Maliyah; and her siblings-in-law, Claudette, Tessa, Lenox and Joshua. She is also survived by 72 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren.
