He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Slate and Kathleen Martin Slate; his wife Judith M. Slate; and his siblings, Peg Helland, Casey Slate (Pam) and Robert T. Slate (Becky).
He is survived by: his children, Steven "Mike" Slate (Marge), Robert "Bobby" Slate, Debora "Deb" Gilbert and Dora "Dee" Acre (Terry). He is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
