He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Magdalene Armstrong; his son James Armstrong; and his siblings, Chester A. Armstrong, Henry C. Armstrong, Robert E. Armstrong, Paul A. Armstrong, Melvin L. Armstrong, Roy N. Armstrong, Pearl E. Armstrong and Gladys M. Armstrong.
He is survived by: his close friend Mary Ellen Becraft; his grandchildren, Hannah McCarty, Joshua Smith, Matthew Smith, Taylor Birgfeld and Rayna Smith; his great grandchildren, Brantley Haldeman and Zayden Jones; his brother Donald J. Armstrong; his niece Amanda Armstrong; and also, Anna Laye (Charles), Michael Smith, Eddie Smith (Kristye), Chase, Cyle and Cole.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to plant a tree in Fred's honor at a local county park.
