She was predeceased by: her parents, George E. McSherry and Georgia I. McSherry (Manious); and her sisters, Barbara Jean Smith, Dora Elaine White and Virginia Diane Hammond.

She is survived by: her husband Preston W. Shafer, Sr.; her children, Preston W. Shafer, Jr. and Tracy Shelton; her grandchildren, Bradley Shafer and Misty Phillips; and her niece Siree Shindle.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
