He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Albert and Mary Freda Keefer Irons; his sisters-in-law, Helen Irons, Esther Lerch, Linda Staples and Kathy Davis (Steve); his son Rodney Irons; his brother Gary Irons; and his siblings-in-law, James Staples, Barbara Ann Cooper (Howard Cooper), Edward "Bucky" Lerch and Gloria Jean Lewis.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Lee Lerch Irons of Hagerstown; his son Duane Irons (Judith Little) of Sykesville; his sisters, Lois Wilson (Roger), Elizabeth Kurtz (Kenneth), Gloria Merek (Jim), Iris Mielke and Janice; his brother-in-law John D. Lewis; and his grandchildren, Andrea Guyer (Josh), Olivia Alves (Connor), Carlos Irons (Haley), Ayla Zangana (Shvan), Leah Darwish (Karim), Isaac, Addison, Andersen and Oliver. He is also survived by children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
