He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Wayne Rider Sr. and Joanne Patricia Rider Hykes (Mason); and his stepfather Virgil L. Hykes. He is survived by: his brother Robert "Bobby" Wayne Rider. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
