He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hess (Bubber) and Maud Brannon Hess; and his siblings, Bill, Frank, Bob, Kenny, Dick, David, Mike Hess and Debra Ray.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa True Hess of Hancock, MD; his daughter Catherine "Caty" Hess of Hancock, MD; and his siblings, Bruce Hess of Norfolk, VA, Sam Hess of Berkeley Springs, WV, Emeline Golden of Ohio and Margaret Kump of Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
