He was predeceased by: his parents, Christina Belle Edwards and Paul Andrew Nicholson; and his siblings, Dennis Nicholson, Kay Smith (Don) and Paula Secrest (Terry).
He is survived by: his spouse Tracey L. Nicholson; his children, Joshua Steven Nicholson, Dale J. Smith (Sarah) of Hollywood, MD and James K. Smith III (Leigh Ann) of Pittsburgh, PA; his brothers-in-law, Cregg Scott Feemiller and Mark Allen Feemiller; his grandchildren, Bailey Russell, Norah Smith and Aiden Smith; and his nieces and nephews, Tracy Smith (Kurt), Wendy Secrest Moore (Kenny), Doug Smith (Shannon) and Chris Secrest (Crystal).
