He was predeceased by: his parents, Quitman Wells and Nellie Wells; his siblings, Federick Lamar Wells and Frances Wells; and his brothers-in-law, Donold Turnbull and Governor Charles W. Turnbull.

He is survived by: his wife Doris; his children, Jamal and Cherisse Wells; his siblings, Herman Wells (late Edna), Floyd Wells, Gloria McArthur (Holis), Bernadean Williams (Richard) and Linda Hinton (Bert); his siblings-in-law, Vernarld Turnbull (late Juliette), Mavis Richards and Cecil Forbes (Lynnette); and his aunt Annie Louise Mass. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
