Joann Harris-Chock Obituary
On August 23, 2018, Joann Harris Chock surrendered her life to God while surrounded by family and close friends at Doctor's Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland. Joann was born on March 7, 1948 to the late Joseph and Annie Harris in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Spingarn High School in Washington, D.C. and studied music at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Joann was a kind and generous woman who made friends easily and enjoyed conversing with everyone. She demonstrated her generosity to others through her charitable giving at various churches in the area and was a contributor to non-profit organizations in her hometown of Washington, D.C. to help the poor and needy.
Joann worked in government service for several decades, most notably in the music division of the United States Library of Congress as a library technician and in the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department's Office of Communications as a 911 police emergency operator. Her work contributions were a vital part of our nation's duty to protect and serve others.
In her passing, Joann leaves to cherish her loving memories to a devoted husband of more than 50 years, Edward Konoho Chock; her loving and devoted children, Angela and Christopher; a devoted sister, Shirley Bradley; a trusted confidante and beloved cousin, Juanita Benjamin, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and a cadre of friends.
