He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Luen Ashby Jr. and Grace Ashby (Seitz); his grandparents, Charles Luen Ashby Sr. and Helen "Mona" Ashby (Nicholes); his brother Robert Ashby; and his son Brian Ashby.

He is survived by : his wife Doris Ashby (Birch); his children, Bradley Ashby and Jennifer Ashby; his grandchildren, Matthew Ashby and Jillian Ashby; his daughters-in-law, Kelly Ashby and Trish Ashby; his brother David Ashby (Nancy); and his sister-in-law Jean Gordon (Birch). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
