James Abney Obituary
We announce the death of James Abney (Landover, Maryland), who passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 80. James will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Clark and Harriet Abney; his son Corley Abney; his great grandchild Serenity Nevaeh Bond; his nephew Cleveland Abney; and his siblings, Floyd Abney, T. C. Abney, Catherine Abney, Lucille Wiggins and Nathalee Abney.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille; his children, Troy Edmond (Tracy), Marvin Edmond, Kafi Holland, Bobby Carson (Rachel) and Bryant Carson; his grandchildren, Gaibrielle Carson, Bobby Carson III, Malik Carson, Maseo Carson, Ciara Carson, Zachary Carson, Mark Shaffer, Maleah Shaffer, Malona Shaffer and Kamani Edmond; and his cousin Reverend Wilbert Campbell. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Of Glenarden Ministry Center (3600 Brightseat Rd, Landover, MD 20785).
