He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Prather and Garfield Prather; and his daughter Jacqueline Cales. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Barbour Prather; his grandchildren, Danielle Cales and Trey Cales; and his sister-in-law Sybil Barbour.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Seaton Memorial AME Church (5507 Lincoln Ave, Lanham, MD 20706). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
