He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richards and Bernice Richards; his daughter Connie Richards; his siblings, Albert Richards, Benson Richards and Shirley Richards (Rebecca Hallman); and his granddaughter Melissa Richards.

He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Richards; his sisters, Martha Hull of Hughesville, MD and Dorothy Vest of Hughesville, MD.; and his grandchildren, Joey Richards and Laura Richards (Scott).
