James Edward Phillips Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Edward Phillips of Lavale, Maryland, who passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Bruce Phillips and Margaret Leola Phillips (Kretchman). He is survived by: his children, Sue MacGray (Steve), James "Ed" E. Phillips, Jr. (Abilene), Diane Phillips-Chitwood (Daniel) and Sally Benson (David); and his grandchildren, Sheri Orndorff (Brian), Aaron MacGray (Lizzie), Kara Bowen (Gordon), Brad Phillips (Becky), Tyler Shell (Cera), Tim Shell (Kristan), Megan Fordham (Ryan), Mary Beth Simpson (Max) and Matthew Benson (Kailee). He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Adams Family Funeral Home (404 Decatur St, Cumberland, MD 21502). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to Eckhart Baptist Church, 17104 Old National Pike, SW, Frostburg, MD 21532.
