She was predeceased by : her parents, Gladys Wooden Newman and Leonard James Newman; her siblings, William "Billy" Newman, Sehon Newman Grigsby and Mary L. Taylor; and her brothers-in-law, John R. Taylor, Sr. and Charles Grigsby.

She is survived by : her spouse Jervy Franklin Barnes, Jr.; her children, Spencer J. Barnes (Bonita) and Melissa Barnes Wyche (Michael); her stepchildren, Valerie Barnes and Travis Barnes (Sandra); her grandchildren, Geoffrey S. Barnes, Jada S. Barnes, DeVontay J. Wyche and Avery F. Wyche; her stepchildren, Erica Billie (Dameon), Andrea Barnes, Taiya Barnes, Eirene Lane, Jayvian Hicks, Jazmin Griffin, Robert Green, Michael and Taylor Caldwell; and her siblings, Esther Minor (James), Emily Gaskins, James Newman (Renee) and Samuel Newman (Monica). She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family would be most appreciative for monetary donations to help with the funeral expenses.
