He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Kowalski; his brother Edward Gills; and his brother-in-law William Hadfield. He is survived by: his siblings, Lynn Hadfield, Christine Baranoski (Charles) and Ted Kowalski (Michelle); his siblings' children, Christopher Hadfield (Rose), Nic Gills (Dorota), Brent Gills (Seema), Alyssa Mlynarski (John), Eric Baranoski and Kevin Baranoski; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Vivian, Lillian Hadfield, Chloe, Zac Gills and Annie Mlynarski; and his sister-in-law Debbie Gills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish Outreach Ministry, 208 S 4th St., Oakland, MD 21550.
