He was predeceased by: his parents, John James Muir and Mary Muir (Smith); his wife Kathryn Elaine Muir; his sons, Dan and Jim Muir; and his brother Robert "Fish" Muir.
He is survived by: his children, Maureen Dye (Butch) of Lonaconing, Ed Muir (Robin) of Bowie, Mary Ellen Turner of Lonaconing, Kathy Foor (Tom) of Bedford and Joe Muir (Janine) of Hurlock; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Jesse, Jordan, Angie, Janel, Kate, Jennie, Matthew, Kristen, Kathi Jo, Michael, Jacob and Mackenzie; his daughter-in-law Sherry Muir of Lonaconing; and his sister-in-law Tillie O'Rourke Rivenbank (Dave). He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren.
