Jean Ann Spear Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Ann Spear (Lonaconing, Maryland), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 6, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Milford Schwertfeger and Minnie Henrietta Marie Schwertfeger (Benhke); her siblings, Charles Milford and Dorothy Jane Fleming; and her sister-in-law Susan Hook.
She is survived by: her husband Rev. Donald E. Spear; her sister Helen Louise Keller of Livonia, MI; her children, Melinda Susan Best (David) of Avoca, NY, Amanda Louise Hawkins (David) of LaVale, MD, Cynthia Marie Dasher (Keith) of Hazleton, PA. and Andrew Eric Spear (Cynthia Miller) of Escondido, CA.; her grandchildren, Lee Edward Winebrenner (Kristen) of Levittown, PA, Alyssa Jean Gustin (Matthew) of Bradford, PA, Lydia Diane Sweatt (George) of Greenwood, NY, Joshua David Best (Christina) of New Brunswick, NJ, Jessica Diane Lawrence (Seth) of Pittsburgh, PA, Katherine Grace Hosselrode (Brandon) of Berlin, PA, Jordan Edward Best (Emmie) of Brooklyn, NY and Jackson David; and her stepgrandchildren, Justin Dasher (Cait), Julia Hoening (Christoph) and Jared Dasher (Amber). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (1 E Main St, Lonaconing, MD 21539).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Penn York Camp to support their ongoing ministry to families and children.
