He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Samuel Nelson Thompson and Martha Mae Thompson (Turner); his wife Rosalie "Rosie" Thompson; his siblings, Dolores Eaton, Patsy Lemko and LJ Thompson; and his grandson Billy Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Frank Thompson (Brenda), Kerry Kaldenbach (Kevin), Elly McConnel, Connie Hager (Chuck), Jill Wood (Steve), Amy Hunt (Greg) and Martha Dove (Kyle); and his stepdaughters, Nina Raley and Cecelia Morgan. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home (41590 Fenwick St, Leonardtown, MD 20650). A prayer was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Charles Memorial Gardens (26325 Point Lookout Rd, Leonardtown, MD 20650).
