We announce the death of Shirley Jean Alexander of Mechanicsville, Maryland, who passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 98. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Irving Hicks and Augusta Remsen Hicks; her husband Albert Isaac Alexander, Jr.; her son Albert Alexander, III; her siblings, Edmund Hicks, Mildred Lovejoy, Phyllis Porter, Elizabeth Eliff, Audrey Eno and Olga Rinker; and her son-in-law Richard Gardner.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cheryl Gardner of Silver Spring and Andrea Alexander of Mechanicsville, Maryland; and her grandsons, Brendan Gardner, Martin Gardner and Aaron Zell. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory (30195 Three Notch Rd, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622). A prayer was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.
