She was loved and cherished by many people including: parents: James Erskine and Esther Jellicorse Coleman; husband: John Herbert Roeder; son: John Herbert Roeder Jr.; sister: Frances Blackburn (Doug); brothers: James Coleman (Faye) and Bernard Coleman; children: Elizabeth Cannon, John Michael Roeder (Betsy), Gabrielle Marie Roeder, Anne O'Brien (Joe), Mary Prokop (George), and Carolyne Haas; grandchildren: Kathleen Roeder, Daniel Roeder, Maria Roche Prust (Chris), Nicholas Cannon, Paige Prokop, Michael Roeder, Madeline Prokop, Logan Haas, Cheri O'Brien, Megan Shapiro (Ian), Rebecca Cahall (Brian), Grace Haas, George Tyrone Prokop, and Anjoli O'Brien; great-grandchildren: Kamryn Pryor, Kayden Pryor, Vance Prust, and Colette Prust; cousins: Dolores "Punkie" Blackburn (Ken Roberts); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Memory of Hazel (7321 Burkittsville Rd, Middletown, MD 21769). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Community (7321 Burkittsville Rd, Middletown, MD 21769).
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that memorial contributions be made to Calmra, Inc./Jewell House, the organization dearest to Hazel's heart, as it provides homes and loving care for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, including her daughter Gabrielle.
