She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Vencill and Elvinia Vencill (Adkins); her daughter Denise Ann Gates; her grandson James Anthony Gates; and her siblings, Eloise Norcia, Geraldine Perry, Joe Ed, Robert, Steve, Ricky, Donnie and Charlie Vencill.
She is survived by: her husband Lawrence Gates; her children, Karen Rourke Anthony (Michael), Hope Adams (Mark) and Kim Stoops (Toby); her grandchildren, Samantha Wilson, John Rourke (Sydni Biser), Emilie Rourke, Jessie Shultz (Wayne), Hayden Adams, Hunter Stoops and Olivia Stoops; her stepgranddaughters, Amy Bush and Katie Tayler; her great grandchildren, Teryn Sims, Little Wayne and Waylon Shultz; and her siblings, Shelby Thomas, Nancy Eastridge, Pansy Wingo, Timmy, Kyle, Darryl and Kenny.
