He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Schmetz and Bea Schmetz. He is survived by: his wife Beth Schmetz; his children, Jay Schmetz (Charese) and Stephanie Casper (Ari); his brother Stanley Schmetz; his grandchildren, Kayla Gross (Noam), Alliza Spilman (Eliyahu), Eva Casper, Ella Casper, Shoshana Casper, Ben Casper, Bee Schmetz, Dawson Schmetz and Dylan Schmetz; and his great grandchildren, Nate Gross and Moshe Spilman.

A shiva was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Family Residence (6114 Stuart Ave, Baltimore, MD 21209). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Beth Tfiloh Cemetery (5660 Windsor Mill Rd, Woodlawn, MD 21207).
