He was predeceased by: his wife Carol June Mentzell; his parents, William Eugene Mentzell Jr. and Edna Vivian Mentzell; and his sisters, Joannie Radcliffe and Jeannie Perez.
He is survived by: his sons, Jonathan "Jon" Brant Mentzell (Kimberly) and Gregory James Mentzell (Christy); his grandchildren, Zachary Joseph Mentzell, Alexander William Mentzell, Nicholas George Mentzell and Thomas Stanley Mentzell; his stepgranddaughter Morrighan Averyl Rayne Warburton; and his sisters, Bonnie Eckels (Kevin) and Shirley Harold.
