He was predeceased by: his parents, Jane Cavanagh (Geelan) and Patrick Cavanagh; and his sister Maria "Bernadette" (Thomas "Sonny). He is survived by: his sister Bridget "Bridie"; his children, Patrick (Patricia), James, Jane (Eddie), Nora (Roy) and Bridget; his grandchildren, Caitlin (Russell), Sara, Mary (Mark), Patrick (Sidney), Brendan (Hannah), Kelly, Ryan, Michael (Shaylind), Tyler (Jacquelyn), Thomas (Rebecca), Paige, William Nathaniel and Joshua; and his great grandchildren, Oliver and Moira. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St James Catholic Church (3628 Rhode Island Ave, Mt Rainier, MD 20712). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A committal service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Fort Lincoln Funeral Home (3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722).
