He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilmer and Mae Cordelia Garst (Knill); his spouse Patsie Lee Garst (Himes); his siblings, John Garst (Peggy), Richard Garst (Florence), Denton Garst and Louise Cline (Milo); and his brother-in-law Paul Coblentz.
He is survived by: his children, Diane (Richard Flickinger), Bradley (Sheila Garst) and Dale (Barbara Garst); his grandchildren, Danielle Pickett (Dennis), Samantha Garst (Eric Conley), Katherine Garst and Eli Garst; his great grandchildren, Levi, Garrett and Raegan Pickett; his sister Virginia Coblentz; his sister-in-law Peggy Garst; and his close friend Jenny Rhoderick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carroll County 4-H Program, with checks made out to CCEAB and mailed to 700 Agriculture Center, Westminster, MD 21158.
