He was predeceased by: his father Paul Huo-Chin Yin; and his wife Karen A. Kaufman-Yin. He is survived by: his children, Susan, Rob and Andrew; his grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew and Mayari; and his siblings, Terry and George. He is also survived by uncle to his 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces, and 4 great nephews.
