He was predeceased by : his wife Faye Combs; his daughter Donna Combs Purple; and his brothers, Jack Combs, John L. Combs, Roscoe Combs and Earl Combs.

He is survived by : his son Steve Combs; his daughter-in-law Jean Combs; his daughter Becky Combs Hons; his sons-in-law, Dave Hons and Jon Purple; his grandchildren, Stefanie Combs Seamster, Phillip Combs, Jessica Purple (Mathew Meyer), Jordan Hons (John Hons), Shannon Hons, Aliyah Seamster, Otis Purple Meyer and Peach Purple Meyer; his sister Doris Blevins; his brother-in-law Don Blevins; his sister Eula McCoy; and his brother-in-law Gary McCoy.
