He was predeceased by: his parents, John Amato III and Joan Amato. He is survived by: his children, Kendall Ludwig (Mark), Carly Amato-Menker (John) and John "BJ" Amato V (Samantha); his grandchildren, Margot, Juliette, John VI and Eliza; and his siblings, Joe Amato (Nancy), Jim Amato (Susan), Jason Amato (Jen) and Madeline Meister. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schimunek Funeral Home Inc. (9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (2 Willow Ave, Baltimore, MD 21206).
