He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Ray and Lillian Ashby (Shaw); his son Glenn Ashby; and his siblings, Donald Ashby, Joe Ashby, Randy Ashby and Norma Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Leona Ashby (Landon); his children, Billy Ashby, Jr. (Carrie) of Crellin, MD, Scott Ashby (Rebecca) of Crellin, MD, Mike Ashby (Dawna) and Amy Fazenbaker (Mike) of Terra Alta, WV; his siblings, Roger Ashby, Butch Ashby, Tom Ashby, Rick Ashby, Patricia Ryan and Sharon Ashby; and his grandchildren, Heather Manko, Justin Ashby, Kala O'Brien, Melanie VanNosdeln, Ryan Hebb, Josiah Hebb, Gabe Hebb, Conner Ashby and Peyton Fazenbaker.
