He was predeceased by : his parents, Edwin Taylor and Violet Mae Brown (Secrist); his grandson Brandon Brown; his brother Larry Neil Brown; and his brother-in-law Melvin Butler.

He is survived by : his wife Shirley Brown (Uphold); his children, Tammy Mellott (Alex) and Bruce Brown (Linda); his grandchildren, Scot Kelley (Sarah), Lauren Whealton (Steve), Brady Whealton, Brayden, Samantha, Aaron, Dale Mellott, Scottie Brown, Chelsea Abe (Makota), Cassandra Cogley (Zakk) and Joshua Moon (Nicole); and his sister Sylvia Butler. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
