He is survived by: his wife Kathleen; his sons, Michael Higgins Jr. of Louisville and Kevin Sean Higgins of Woodbridge, Virginia; his grandchildren, Michael III of Knoxville, Kaitlyn, Hailey Higgins of Woodbridge and Matthew Higgins of Louisville, Kentucky.; and his siblings, Vince Higgins, Mary Breitbach of Iowa and Ron Higgins of Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike's memory to St. Mary's Star of the Sea/Holy Savior Church, Ocean City, Maryland.
