He was predeceased by: his children, Carol Anne, David and Jon; and his grandson Tyler Sapp. He is survived by: his wife Jeannie; and his children, Libby Knapp (David), Lori Adams, Suzanne Dammeyer (Patrick), Michael Sapp (Debbie), Holly Hitchcock (James) and Christopher Sapp (Laura). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“I am so grateful for the love and example that Edwin alias Elder Sapp has been for me. He was always happy to help and support others and I can still remember until this day that he just "retired" from his role as a service missionary about two weeks before he left this earth. He is truly an example of service and enduring to the end. Just like others that he served, I am thankful for all of the advice and knowledge that he shared with me, which truly helped me become more Christ-like.”
