He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Whipple Carter and Nettie Anna Carter; his wife Nancy Elizabeth Carter; and his children, David, Frank Carter, Darla Richetti and Deborah.

He is survived by: his children, Darrold Carter, Darwin Carter, Michael Gibbs, Andrew Gibbs (Brenda), Denise Huening, Patricia Smith (Edward) and Kathleen Tondee (Donald). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
