He was predeceased by: his wife Angela (Mayo); and his parents, C. H. Nelson and Brooksie Dortch. He is survived by: his children, Catherine Pelura (Anthony Pelura) and Jason Nelson (Erin Nelson); his grandchildren, Isabella, Aidan, Lane, Alec, Iain and Rhys; and his sister Brenda (Charles O'Halloran).
