With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Cicely Katz Gurwitz Finkelstein (Pikesville, Maryland), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 12, 2025 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by: her parents, Julia Katz and Louis Katz; her husband Bill Finkelstein; her son Alan Gurwitz; her in-laws, Bertha and Hyman Gurvitz; her siblings, Robert [Fran] Katz and Velma [Jack] Cheslock; her sister-in-law Elaine Friedman; and her nephew David Cheslock.
She is survived by: her children, Stephanie [Steve] Gurwitz Zurier and Howard [Sharon] Gurwitz; her grandchildren, Benjamin Zurier, Solomon Zurier and Randi Gurwitz; her great grandchildren, Olivia and Jon; her brother K. Ray Katz [Sue]; and her sibling's children, Shelley [Stan] Potler, Claire Cheslock, Joe Cheslock, Michele [David] Knorr, Cheryl [Brock] Jasmin, Renee [Michael] Gerber and Lauren Katz. She is also survived by great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sol Levinson's Chapel (8900 Reisterstown Rd, Pikesville, MD 21208). For information about Shiva, please contact the family.
