We announce the death of John E. Staudt of Potomac, Maryland, who passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 78. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene J. Staudt and Margaret C. Staudt (Ledwith); his wife Mary; his son Sean; and his sister Kathleen Nickels.
He is survived by: his sons, Christopher Staudt (Veronica) of Homer Glen, IL and Brian Staudt (Carlyn) of Kensington, MD; his grandchildren, Victoria, Valerie, Sophie, Michael and Cecilia; and his siblings, Susan Staudt (Joseph Riker) of New Canaan, CT, Margaret Sotil of New Rochelle, NY, James Staudt (Kathy) of Larchmont, NY, Thomas Staudt (Jean) of Mamaroneck, NY, Mary Ellen Staudt (Harold Spitzfaden) of Fairfield, CT, Gerard Staudt of Norwalk, CT, Joseph Staudt (Lauren) of Point Lookout, NY, Anne Marie Staudt (Stephen Cowherd) of Westport, CT and Eugene Staudt (Mary) of Milford, CT. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home & Cremation (900 S 6th St, Springfield, IL 62703). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (1725 S Walnut St, Springfield, IL 62704).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blessed Sacrament School.
