He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Henry Smith, Sr. and Beatrice Smith; and his siblings, Phillip Wenderoth, Nancy Wenderoth, Linda McIntyre and John Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Smith; his daughters, Janine Scrivener (Timothy), Jeannette Smith and Jacqueline Perez; his grandchildren, Cristian Perez, Catherine Lewis and Caroline Lewis; his sisters, Joanne Barnes, Sandra Gardiner and Revamae Campbell; and his sister-in-law Karen Lilly (Lee Lilly). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
