He was predeceased by : his parents, Bryan W. Gibney and Grace E. Gibney (Byers); his wife Emily Mae "Sue" Gibney; and his siblings, Mary Ann Logan and Bryan A. Gibney.
He is survived by : his son James Gibney (Mary) of Rising Sun, MD; his stepchildren, Gerry Knotts (Tom Vaughan) of Rising Sun, MD and Michael Ritchie (Kim) of Elkton, MD; his grandchildren, Allen Reed (Cathy), Chris Ritchie (Kristina), William Cooper (Krista), Michael Cooper (Dennis Nelms) and Ashley Beyer (Josh); his great grandchildren, Caleb Reed, Brayden Reed, Brynlee Ritchie, Jude Ritchie, Nolan Beyer, Milena Beyer, Billy Cooper, Joey Cooper and Kyle Cooper; his great great grandchildren, Serenidy, Aria and Jac; his siblings, George Gibney (Ruthann Rickert) of Rising Sun, MD and Ruth Fulmer (Bill) of Wilmington, DE; his siblings-in-law, Lowell White (Pauline) and Audrey Rierson; and his caregivers, Bobbie Younce, Lisa Schoff, Melanie and John McGonigle.
