He was predeceased by: his former wife Pat Hardesty; his daughter Patsy Ann Lockett; his parents, Hunter William Hardesty and Helen Mae Hardesty; and his sister Shirley Mae Hardesty.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Frantom (Pat); his children, Glenn Hardesty of Davidsonville, MD, Brenda Evans Johnson of Loudon, TN and Amy Hardesty of Edgewater, MD; his son-in-law Bruce Johnson of Loudon, TN; his grandsons, Hunter Hardesty and Russell Lockett; and his brother Charlie Hardesty of Davidsonville, MD.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
