Jean Ellen Spence Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jean Ellen Spence of Rock Hall, Maryland, who passed away on September 10, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew John Powhida and Amy Rosalie Powhida (Higgins); her husband Jerry Cameron Spence; her daughter Holly Short; her sister Pat Hastings; and her close friend Bootsie Bell.
She is survived by: her daughter Debbie Spence; her grandchildren, Megan Esper (Taylor), Jamie Short, Cameron Spence and Jordan Short; her siblings, Rebecca Glenn (Bobby), Karen May (Joe) and John Powhida; her in-laws, Candy, Kenny Hausenfluck, Peggy-Sue and Larry Stickley; and her daughter Stephanie Balderrama. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Newnam Funeral Home (130 Speer Rd, Chestertown, MD 21620). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
