He was predeceased by: his parents, Joy Elaine Proffitt (Lindsay) and Hillus Proffitt; and his siblings, Harry, David, James Proffitt and Mary Joyce Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Claire Boyer Miller; and his children, Cameron Proffitt Taylor (Gordon) and William Boyer Miller Proffitt (Eileen). He is also survived by three nephews and a niece.
