She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard W. Phillips and Frances Brewington Phillips. She is survived by: her daughters, Laura Donoway of Parsonsburg and Georgianne Hicks of Salisbury; her grandchildren, Anthony, Allison, Alex Donoway, Mark and Matthew Hicks (Lorraine); her great grandchildren, Adalyn and Ashtyn Donoway; her sister Patricia Ellis; her brother-in-law B. Craig Ellis of Laurinburg; and her nieces, Jennifer and Elizabeth. She is also survived by three great-nieces.
JoAnne's contributions to math education were significant and lasting.
